Art of Russia and countries of Western Europe

Art of Western Europe in a museum is presented by fine and applied art of Italy, Spain, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Flanders, Holland and England.

Works of art of the Greek-Roman antiquity and Italy are presented to expositions XV-XIX centuries is an antique marble statue “Venus with a dolphin” – the Roman copy from the Greek original of an era of Hellenism (III century BC), and also fine copies of portrait busts of outstanding people of Ancient Rome (I century AD)

Meeting remarkable the Italian marble sculpture of the XIX century in a museum is shown in original works of known sculptors of A.Kanova “Cupid and Psikhey”, T.Solari “Venus with apple”, F.Barzagi “Phrynia”, Zh.Gudona “Sabine Gudon”, etc.

The era of blossoming of France – is reflected by works of known artists F.Shampen “Mourning of the Christ” XVII century, P. Minyar “A female portrait”, F.Van de Meylen “Louis XIV observes battle at Bruges”. Tastes of society of that era are reflected by style furniture Boulle, here the china of XVIII-of the beginning of the XIX centuries of the well-known plant is presented to expositions Sevr. Art of France by the XVIII-XIX centuries is presented by works of artists of Sh. Vanloo “Triumph. Amfitrita”, N. Lankra, K. Latur “Self-portrait”, F. Zherar “Cupid and Psikhey”, Sh. Ferr “Fair in the Egyptian city”, L. Tesson “The Arab court yard”, E.Maskr “A female portrait”, etc. In the spirit of that time Klodion Michel’s bronze sculpture “A crying faun” is executed.

From the Spanish works the small cloth “Boy beggar” is allocated (XVIII century), character which execution allows to carry the author to a circle of the artists close to great Francisco Goya. Here two works Juan Pantokhi de la Crous “Philippe’s III portrait – the king of Spain” and “Margarita Austrian’s portrait – queens of Spain” (XVII century) are presented.

L. Shenberger’s romantic landscapes are distinguished from pictures of the German artists “Mountain falls”, R. Folmara “The road in the wood”. The museum possesses also a collection of the well-known Meissen XVIII-porcelain of the beginning of the XIX centuries.

About painting of the Netherlands by the XV-XVI centuries tell pictures of such artists, as I. Boskh (school) “A temptation St. Antonija”, F. Pourbus “A man’s and female portrait”, F. Floris “Worship of magicians”.

Flemish artists of the XVII-XIX centuries are presented by Ya.Breygel’s pictures “Adam and Eve in paradise”, A.Brauver “The blind musician”, Ya. Feyt “The seller of a game” and others.

Holland – the homeland of still life. The glorified master of this genre Jan Van Geysum is presented by carefully written out work “Still life”. In an exposition works of painters B. Van are also shown Gelsta “A man’s portrait”, Yana Van Looten “A landscape with dunes” rubbed.

Art of England is presented the XVII-XIX centuries by D. Dow’s works “P. Davydova’s Portrait”, “I.Udom’s Portrait” and H.Robertson “the M. Baryatinskaya Portrait”.

The state museum of art possesses a rich collection of works of the Russian art of the XV-XX centuries. In an exposition – the collection of icons reflecting the main lines and artistic touches of the Russian iconography.
