“Exhibition оf A Single Work”

21-25, April   “The Festival of Visual and Applied Art of Uzbekistan”, organized by Art Academy of Uzbekistan and Ministry of Culture and Sport, is traditionally held. This year is devoted to the elderly generation care.

Within the framework of the festival the exhibition of a single work by Damir Ruzibaev – an honored sculptor of Uzbekistan – was opened on the 24-th of April in the State Art Museum of Uzbekistan.

 

Damir Ruzibaev was born in 1939 in Samarkand. In 1954 he entered the Republic Art College named after P.Benkov. Having finished the college, he refused to continue his studies in Saint Petersburg. Followed the advice of his teacher  A.Volkov, Ruzibaev moved to Margilan to get some practice.

His name firstly appeared in Art life of Uzbekistan at the beginning of the 60-s. As a master he was completely formed after the practice on the archeological excavations of Khaltchajan ancient settlement, led by G.A.Pugatchenkova.

 

His works are exhibited in museums and private collections around the world.

Among them: “The Black Relief”, “The portrait of I.V.Savitsky” (1984) (Tretiakov Gallery, Moscow)

Two works from “The Bird” series (The State Oriental Museum, Moscow).

Our exhibition represents the marble statue, of  Humo bird –The Bird of Happiness and symbol of our nationality and State. The Bird is set on the basement of geometric forms decorated with “Girikh” – geometrical ornament, well known in Central Asia.
